Español: Escudo de armas de Chile, usado desde 1813 a 1814, durante el periodo conocido como la Patria Vieja.

[...] un grande escudo, y en él se veía retratada una robusta columna, en cuya cúspide aparecía un globo, y en su cumbre una lanza y una palma cruzadas; sobre todo esto se descubría una radiante estrella encumbrada con alguna distancia.

A la siniestra de la columna, estaba gallardo un joven vestido de indígena, y a la diestra una hermosa mujer con el mismo traje; una inscripción superior decía: Post Tenebras Lux; y a la inferior: Aut Concilio Aut Ense (La luz después de las tinieblas y Por consejo o por la espada).

”
